We are happy to announce the third international masterclass of the Erasmus+ project Values in Motion: an online training session dedicated to sound design for animated short films in educational contexts.

This masterclass represents a further step in the project’s dissemination activities and is open to teachers, educators, cultural operators and anyone interested in integrating audio production into animation projects as a creative and collaborative learning tool in the classroom.

An online masterclass on storytelling and stop motion

Titled “Sound Design for Animation – Practical Techniques for the Classroom”, the masterclass focuses on the audio post-production phase of an animated short film, with particular attention to voice recording, sound effects creation (foley) and audio editing.

The session is designed especially for school and educational settings, offering practical tools and methods that can be easily adapted to classrooms, workshops and informal learning environments.

The masterclass will be held online, making it accessible to participants from different countries and educational backgrounds.

What the masterclass will cover

During the session, participants will explore:

  • Voice recording techniques for animated characters and narration
  • Creating sound effects (foley) using everyday classroom objects
  • Improving and cleaning recorded audio in non-professional environments
  • Structuring and balancing an audio track for animated short films
  • Preparing the final audio file for integration into the video project

Through practical examples and a live demonstration, the tutor will show how a complete audio track can be developed step by step, encouraging creativity, collaboration and an effective use of available resources in the classroom.
